New theme: Fruit of the Spirit

For the next few Sundays at Urban Hope we'll be talking about the different fruits of the spirit, so sorry to the people who will have this song stuck in their heads!

The first one will be about Love, and it'll be on the 16th February (just after Valentine's Day too! it's like we planned it!)

There will be breaks at various points (like Ash Wednesday) when we'll be talking about the various parts of the Easter story.

So please do join us at Coffee Tots, in the City Arcade, in Coventry City Centre, every sunday, at 11:30 am!

Harvest Thanksgiving

Today wasn't just the first week of our new service time (11:30! Set your alarms folks), but it was also our harvest thanksgiving service.

We made bread...

...talked about God's generosity and creativity, and decorated leaves for things that we wanted to thank God for. (I didn't get a photo of the leaves, sorry, they were really good though!).

Afterwards we ate together, including the bread we made.

The battle for the Plaque

Those super observant of you will know about this plaque that hangs on the wall outside of Coffee Tots, where we meet on a Sunday afternoon.

Our building has a beautiful, rich history of things that have changed the face of Coventry for ever, but more importantly, the plaque is also a pokestop for Pokemon Go, and an Inn for Harry Potter Wizards Unite. Except...

They put it in the wrong place!

Niantic, the people who make the two games, accidentally put the plaque down the bottom of Coventry Arcade, by Argos! nowhere near us and too far away to swipe when we're meant to be thinking carefully about Christian stuff. So we checked with them how to move it. They explained that we needed to provide the exact grid references of where the plaque should be. We figured this out with a bit of help from google maps, and then we got this email.

We've checked and the change has been made. The plaque is now an Inn and is swipeable every 5 minutes from within Coffee Tots!
